Firstly, the practical 3D chip looks great. USB like connection makes it easier to connect to computer/or mobile device then specific software would perform the diagnostics. This is a simple prototype however would i think a WIFI or Bluetooth signal would be possible to integrate into the device. From a manufacturing point of view this sample is a very simple design and would be cheap to make (the dye to make the casing shouldn't cost more than 50k imo. Think printer cartridges which are made of the same "lego" material) . A more advanced model (for professionals) might become available with integrated signal possessors or even 12CQ chips to decipher the outcomes. The future is really open for these types of devices, from big machines all the way to personal wearable tech sensors.
Secondly to have the patent published is a big deal. From what i read into it, we should only have to wait 4 weeks before we can start to lodge it with local jurisdictions and it should be all systems go. (having a read of the document is mind boggling.) i wouldn't mind betting once thats done we will hear more from our German biotech company. Covid is still very at the front of every bodies lives at the moment however Governments worldwide are desperate to re open their economies. To be able to perform covid testing at airports and borders, schools, institutions, etc, and receive instant feedback would be invaluable. Obviously the technology has to go through their checks and balances, but if this pays off its a real company maker. I really think commercialization of this product can happen within the next 12-18 months.
