FWIW I sold out of QBE recently. Insurance companies rely on actuaries to quantify risk premiums however actuaries rely on past history to forecast future risk premiums. With global warming I'm convinced actuaries are having a real problem with their calculation ie the past may not reflect the future. QBE's USA crop insurance business is a real risky business. Maybe insurance companies understand this and have in concert started uping premiums at a solid rate for a while now to reflect these unquantifiable risks. It seems to be paying dividend so far. Good luck to all. QBE seems to be on the right path now after its disastrous overseas expansion a while ago. Hubris was an issue then.
