Then the Company has your added investment to use exploring, and you hold the extra shares. Otherwise the underwriters get the shares and will loose them on the market to make a pip or two

Strike date means the date the Registry has to have your cleared funds in their bank - take care of that.
BPay is fine but make sure your bank will handle the amount on time - banks are getting very twitchy about possible scams.
If you really have run out of time a visit to the bank manager may help - they can do things which they say they cant !! lol.
