I think with the added scrutiny that comes with joining the ASX300, there'd be no chance of that. The reality is that all bar one of the stocks that joined the ASX300 at last rebalance have been shorted. Seems pretty indiscriminate to me. The timing is a bit unfortunate in that regard but having Aus Super on the registry is a huge tick. Say what you want about them, but they aren't morons and will have done their due diligence.
Hope to see some burning shorts today (but they'll probably be doubling down). However, before they were just selling to retail, now they're taking on a big, hairy gorilla!
