Given the chunk of equity I hold in CTM, it's encouraging to see positive activity like this, but the fact of the Simulus MD attending site to supervise the excavation of a test sample really puts the scale of the venture into perspective.
I struggle to think of too many companies that have supervision of sample collection as part of the MD's PD.'Observe it', I could understand, but 'supervise'?
A few years back I was involved in a very similar excavation, involving the collection of a 200 tonne sample for metallurgical testing and plant design. The geo marked the position of the trench, specified the depth and then left. No-one in the food chain above the shift supervisor attended the actual excavation - even though we'd moved 18 million tonnes of overburden to get to the top of the orebody.
