Trial ticked off and adopt it, granted that may be a 4-6 week process but no more I feel.
Hospitals are notoriously slow to adopt digital innovations; that is why patience is required.
There are many excuses why - I'll give you a few possibilities.
Generally, budgets are divided by clinical department or care area, surgery, oncology, recovery floors, emergency etc. The pie is split up - each department has a cost budget to be held accountable. The radiology department might not have spare money hanging about to invest in new technology; they may have to forward a plan and put in a budgetary proposal for the following fin year.Many departments would be fighting for parts of the pie - it might take a little while to sort funding.
Or maybe there isn't a centralised innovation budget they can apply for; the budgets may be rigid, set out annually. How can they invest in a product that will save them money this fin year where they might not see the benefits until the following year.
IT departments may want to put the brakes on a new SAAS system; sorry, we have our hands full with electronic health records already, we can fit it in at some stage, but we have a six-month backlog before we can incorporate it properly into our system.
Technology, hardware and perpetual software are purchased via the capital budgets, but SASS services would probably be funded from an operating budget. Oh oh - see where I'm going here?
I imagine there are a significant number of hoops one needs to jump through before getting new tech into a hospital. I suspect hospitals are all too happy to take their time, trial it with patients, and get feedback from as many doctors as possible.
The longer the trials go on, the better IMO.
