If the tech is genuinely as good as it promises to be, I would be fighting to be in the lab with 4DS when those 20 nm chips arrive for testing and analysis, not holding back until PL6 is out.
Industry insiders will have a good handle on the probability of success for PL6.
It's still my assessment that 4DS will tell WD "It's not you, it's me," and be focused on securing a new development partner that is more in line with the tech's capabilities.
Don't forget, WD could still exercise their right to purchase a licence.
