There you have it - the company is no longer interested in offloading the tech to a Micron or Samsung - they want to be in the AI space. Don't be surprised if they cut HGST/WD loose.
NVIDIA would be their first port of call. But don't rule out the likes of Intel - they have been milking the X86 tech for decades and need a new killer app.
1 hour retention - that is a lot of retention for what they refer to as "warm" data - that is data that is frequently accessed by the CPU and is constantly changing anyway. @vinneh I think you can stop grinding what's left of that axe?
Forget DRAM - these guys are talking about SRAM.
This could be universal memory - if you want SRAM speeds, you have to sacrifice retention - but if you need FLASH retention - sacrifice a bit of speed and write the cells for longer.
This is a call to industry and a call to action - a significant pivot that is going to require a combination of new knowledge (hires), partners and capital.
