I read the graph like you have, I don't think it's claiming retention figures there, and I also agree that nothing should be taken as completely true unless it's in a company announcement.
That said, I was there (believe I might have been sitting behind khout and next to PA based on someone having their phone passed to them - also next to someone who broke a wine glass) and I do have some memory of the one year being said. How you want to take that is up to you. Regardless of that, they have retention and they're clearly aiming at the lower end for the use case they have scoped out.
