The content of the annoucement, to use a ham fisted analogy to explain that order of magnitude speed increase:
You've got a bunch of engineers who build you an excellent car (something like a BMW M3) it has a top speed of 320kmh and 0-100 time of about 4.5 seconds.
You say, "hey that's awesome, can you go do some more tweaking?"
Three months later they come back with a car that has a top speed of 3200 kmh and a 0-100 of 0.45 seconds. One order of magnitude performance increase.
Is that even the same car anymore? Can you even call it a car?
Ok, so the semi conductor space doesn't track quite the same way, but order of magnitude performance improvements in one iteration step are still significant.
