1. 4DS must be at least as fast as DRAM. If 4DS was at "near-DRAM speed" and now it's up to one magnitude faster, surely that means 4DS is at least as fast as DRAM. You cannot be nearly as fast as something and outside an order of magnitude.
2. 4DS has demonstrated scalability for gigabit and terabit memories. If cells can be manufactured at "the smallest cell geometries supported on imec's memory platform" and imec is at the cutting edge of technology development, then it stands to conclude that scalability will not be an issue for a potential acquirer.
3. A 4DS functioning megabit array is a fait accompli. If 4DS has proven cells can be switched as part of a megabit memory array, then the technical issue is nothing more than a time delay because they couldn't test the lots adequately. Further, if HGST/WD can be certain of this, then they may view the Third Platform Lot as unnecessary because they know it will work.
4. The market potential for 4DS is larger than it was yesterday, making it a significantly more attractive and valuable acquisition target.
