Yes.
The result was he will never have it as good as he did when he could have exercised those options.
this leads me to think that he simply didn't have the cash on hand to exercise the options and foot the tax bill.
It also leads me to think that he never intended to exercise and rather was counting on acquisition before expiry. Which would be bullish because it means he had expected to be off to the races already, but then covid came (and potentially some strategic acquisition delays on account of WDs actions/ inaction)
