Anyway, yep - they have to pull up the whole string regularly. The weight is probably the ultimate restriction on depth by any given rig.
Notice that some of the core was fractured ?? If the good stuff is more friable than the rest of the rock then the grades reported by assay may be less than actual because the good stuff fell away into crevasses in the rock. That happened in a nearby mine which was found to be richer than expected - cant remember which.
