The reason shareholders like scrip offers is due to taxation. In a cash offer, capital gains needs to be paid as their is a sale event. In a scrip offer there is no capital gains event. This is why the Murdoch’s took the Disney shares instead of cash.

The board also believes that having 5GN shares in the long term is going to be good for them. Not only are they not paying capital gains on their money it is being invested in a company growing at a fast clip.

I would take the scrip off too if I was in the same position.
