De grey share price has held up better than 99.9% of gold stocks .This is presumably because it primarily trades in Australia and has had good exploration results .Many gold stocks are down 50% plus .Just look at Kirkland lake ,down over 50% from its peak whilst owning what is basically the worlds most profitable gold mine ,has around 1 billion in cash and is buying back shares per thier recent news release and also increasing their dividend .Thier was a classic bear attack on Friday initially on the big gold stocks like Franco Nevada ,Kirkland lake followed shortly thereafter by a bear attack on gold itself (mainly I think a paper attack) ,because demand for physical gold is high ..The Corona virus is a major deflationary event ,in many ways I think the reaction by governments is worse than the disease ,and it is the reaction that is producing the deflation .Hopefully this will prove to be a short term event .I am hoping that Thursday in Canada and the US was the selling climax in general stocks ,but on Friday the attack deepened in gold and gold and mining stocks .
