Not only Hancock but a few other big players have dipped their toe in to test the water. They realise that the long term potential is huge if early indications are to go by. I have not looked at the details but I am assuming that the deal the company struck with the govt dept will allow open cut mining. Again I do not know but I assume that the timber reserve is historical when large tracts of timber around the goldfields were cleared to provide supports for mine shafts and fuel for steam. Any disturbance in the timber reserve should be able to be met with offsets.
