If Tesla didn't have a case, you can be sure Core would not have included it in a market announcement. The board probably had legal advice that they must announce it somewhere.
It was a binding agreement remember. My guess is that Core were so keen to sign Tesla at the time, that they agreed to terms they cannot satisfy now. Could get very messy.
