200m issue. pretty much 200m wiped from market cap. its really interesting that these placements always reduce the market cap by the amount of the placement. effectively wiped 400m from yesterdays valuation ex cash.
even spp are dumb. they wipe market cap too because people sell off after record date to buy back at the lower price given you can go up to 30k (subject to pro ratas). arbirtrages the price down to the discount price.
compare this to the nextdc rights issue that closes tomorrow. shares have actually gone up over the offer period.
asx should ban both placements and spp. protect the unsophisticated investor. let the big boys play their games in private equity where they have noone to rip off so they have to actually run the companies well.
