The XRF won't analyse gold directly but there are typically pathfinders associated with gold mineralisation (antimony, arsenic, bismuth, tellurides, copper etc) depending on the deposit.
By the sounds of things, the NN orebody is visually obvious. Silica-sericite altered (white-light green) and pyrite mineralisation 5-10%. The geos will know if they have a good intercept before they get assays back.
