Seems to be playing out as you have predicted. There also appears to be more interest in this deal from corps.
They are indeed getting there own way.
Next week there is going to be a flurry of selling I believe. Sudden and unstoppable share price drop. Then deal goes through unoposed.
Share price rise to a peak approx the 1.11 level? then game over.
