It seems to me ABB has bought a blocking stake of 20% to prevent another bidder coming in - this won't ensure they get the business at their offer price which is scrip only and not cash. Other than a response from the board which I expect to be a firm NO - there will now probably be an independent valuation report commissioned valuing SLC - I think either the scrip offer will need to be sharply increased or they need to add at least 30 cents a share cash per share on top of the current scrip offer.
