The standard air brakes on trucks over about a 3 tonne tare weight are inherently fail safe as if the air pressure drops due to a leak the brakes come on and halt the vehicle , that technology has been available for 70 years on highway trucks and ever since I think Westinghouse invented the air brake for trains probably 100 years ago .
Is not the issue with larger vehicles that in abrasive environments that there is still high brake wear caused by the brake shoes in drum or calipers on rotors being exposed to grit , which in theory ABV solves by having a water tight compartment for the brakes to work in , although something that has been around for 60 years on ag tractors with multi disc enclosed brakes.
