Simple fact of life is that to be disruptive the economic advantage needs to be 10x that of established processes. Established means they have already been paid for and now run at marginal cost. Somewhere in the new tech must be some 10x better aspect.
Where is the 10x in yachts, boots, flame retardants, even in cement it is not 10x, but at least there is the overarching pressure to reduce CO2 emissions and if graphene is the only "best" then it might have a chance.
