From what I can gather & In simplistic terms they are like a personalised blood bank ( except for white cells ( T Cells ) and bone marrow / stem cells etc cells .
They arose as a response to the increase in growth of CarT ( Cell ) Therapies
The idea is to have a store of the patients cells on hand early on in the treatment period , so they can be accessed as needed ...rather than coming back for more later ...when maybe the patient & cells have been compromised by Chemo ....
Its a good thing to do and makes sense .
