Gambling is putting money in a slot machine and then crossing your fingers for a beneficial outcome. Thats all you can do. With the stock market you've got whats called due dilligence. Whether you perform dd or not is up to the individual. By doing some research you can presumably take out some risk. This cannot be done with gambling. I do understand where you're coming from as some people have now idea and buy and sell shares with emotion. I myself have never called myself an investor but rather a speculator. I like the riskier stocks and I dont lose any sleep at all.
You dont need to protect anyone but yourself in this game. Some people win, some lose, such is life.
