Let's compare the costs of graphite and copper. Purchasing 2,050 kg of flake graphite (94%, -100 mesh), priced at approximately $874–$1,154 per metric ton (1,000 kg), would result in an average cost of $2,050 at $1,000/ton.

In comparison, copper, currently priced at around $8,600 per metric ton, would cost $17,630 for the same weight.

This estimate excludes processing and shipping costs but gives an idea of the potential price mark up when flake graphite is converted to VHD graphite.

Using CPU heat sinks as an example, VHD graphite offers significantly better heat transfer efficiency compared to copper. This superior thermal conductivity allows for smaller quantities of graphite to achieve the same or even better cooling performance. As a result, using VHD graphite can reduce both the material volume and overall cost compared to copper.
