    The problem with TPS is not the low capacity utilisation in and of itself (5% is actually not that unusual for a peaking plant).

    If you look at the TPS historical dispatch data and compare with the historical power price and demand data for the QLD market, you will note that there are many demand peaks that have not been taken advantage of by TPS. Take 1 August for example when TPS did not generate at all: at 4:50pm, the price rose above $200/MWh. Had the TPS been brought online and allowing for 30 minutes of startup time, it could have been generating from 5:20pm to 8:20pm and realised an average price of over $800/MWh.

    TPS is not being run properly at the moment with the requisite gas supply to take advantage of ample profit opportunities for peakers in the QLD power market.

    With increased gas supply from MGP once it is in the hands of QPME, there is considerable scope for TPS to become a highly profitable plant.

    All IMO.
