The smoke detector visits are not the money maker here, its all the non compliance certificates they slap onto to most of those pre 80s rental homes and strata flats and units that need to be rewired due to "capacity" issues. Thousands to upgrade switchboards, cabling and power capacity. Lets not forget the recurring visit $$$ to update certifications. Its a money pit and landlords cannot do anything about it.
