I repeat TT, I'm not against green hydrogen, it will soon be the largest industry in the world for fertilser, ammonia production and many other applications but as a pure fuel its likely to remain problematic. It makes more sense for a ship or power station to burn it in the form of ammonia NH3 as pure hydrogen H2 burns far too hot unless put through a fuel power cell. NH3 is easy to store and contains more H2 per KG than H2.
But when to comes to powering EV's, as Elon Musk said, hydrogen makes no sense when you can just directly take the green energy and top up the battery.
20 moving parts in a EV vs 2000 in a fossil fuel drivetrain, simplicity in motion.
But for large mining trucks in shallow mines it may pay to use either a combination of hydrogen and batteries or better still, ammonia fuel cells , to top up battery power on the go. The former is exactly what Williams are doing and why Twiggy bought them.
