Excellent question. I have personal experience on such situation.
When you are a small player, you have to ask yourself whether you want to own 100% of a $20m business or you want 49% of $200m business. If you want the former, do everything on your own (including raising funds). If you want the latter, JV with people who can add-value to you (funds, leverage existing SQ expertise and NAL infra). It's much easier. And it's Win-Win.
