    Why is $2.23 a "lowball" offer for a stock that was trading at $1.70 two months ago?

    Yes I know there is no premium to NTA.

    I think it's a respectable first offer, which may elicit better offers by other parties or an improved offer by AVID.

    Of course I would like more, but will I get it?

    Please see the wise comment by @F01 about the difference between liking something and actually getting it.
