both very good posts you have written above. Unfortunately I need to agree that transparency is an issue - how bonuses are based in the R&D field has me beat given lack of progress in the past - and for transparency why don't they release the full particulars on the Helix matter (can't see why but there may be conflict of interest as same officeholder in both).
Also regarding Eli - why on earth would they trigger the "large" milestone payment unless they are certain that the sales will continue at the required high levels - otherwise they may end up costing themselves more. IMO from their perspective keep sales at a level under the milestone target. So why not get on the front foot and discuss with Eli?. Wonder if anyone has actually had discussions with Eli management since RT left?
