Yes, it can get like that, especially because selling out and buying back resets the CGT clock (although it does also crystallise losses for the future, provided you keep an eye on the "wash" rules).
I bought in initially at and around the low-30c range, just before the AD-114 to AD-214 set-back. I have sold out and bought back in a couple of times since, which means I have avoided portions of the decline but at the cost, as I say, of not getting the CGT discount if and when I buy back and there is some good news comes though shortly thereafter.
One might think that the recent announcement suggests some partnership deal might be a realistic possibility in the next few months. But the trouble with hiring Dr Pangloss to write your announcements and publicity is everyone quickly realises that the company is not being candid and assumes the worst.
