I think that is a bit harsh. For starters they are drilling on 2D seismic, I asked SM 4 years ago why they hadn't done 3D for the record, his reply was the same as today. IF its not big enough to drill on 2D then its not big enough. Its clear from todays announcement that MK1 was where you would normally drill an appraisal well to test the flanks of the structure. MK2 Horst Block didn't have seal for the Pebbly and Dande and SM said had they known what they know now they would have drilled more North East. 3D will fix all this uncertainty but its going to take ages. Apart from deepening MK2 st there will be no drilling in Mukuyu for 18 months IMO. I believe they will drill Boabab 1 simply because its shallow and easy and will fulfil the requirements to drill a well outside of sg4571 before mid 2025.
I wonder how long long leads take and I assume they would have ordered them as soon as they mobilised the 7 inch casing?
