I really don't understand this continuing push for IVZ to release data into the public domain.

- you simply don't do this in the oil and gas exploration game. It's commercial suicide to hand out the data you've spent millions of dollars acquiring to your competitors for free.
- Look at it this way....how would you feel as an IVZ share holder who has partly funded acquisition of this data if IVZ gave the data away so that share holders of a competitor company could enjoy the financial benefits of having access to same???
- if a set of log data gets released....what is the average punter going to do with the data?? Its raw data and needs to be QCed before you do anything with it. It then needs to be calibrated against real rock measurements (SWCs). You then have to run the data through a log interp package and then pull all the other data together with the log data to arrive at a useful end result.
