That's a terrible story and sorry to hear it occurred, but the discussion wasn't about competence or ethics. The point was whether a different type of approach in marketing and communication could yield better results. Competence and ethics are established here.

The "heap of information out there" comment is telling. Posters here would have some handle on what's going on having accumulated hundreds of hours pursuing all that info and watching fireside chats and webinars. It's something of a barrier for new investors. Most people need the compelling proposition delivered quickly and succinctly before they'll even consider going further. This marketing and communication issue has been thrown around previously, now market commentators are starting on it. So it's beyond retail seeing the issue.
