They could well have sent Lachlan off to organise outside opinions which they can use as a defence or if they do have some backbone, Lachlan may simply want to produce the best possible disclosure to shareholders. After working through all the options he may simply need more time.

This is way too important in terms of possibly funding an early start to the UG to rush a half baked release just to meet a self imposed deadline.
