No typo. AAM production by SYR had to start by May 2024, TSLA qualification needs a year, so May 2025 makes sense.
That said, nobody forces TSLA to wait till the last day. They basically control the agreement. If they chose to let the date pass, the agreement evaporates. However, I am sure they would then generously offer to negotiate a prolongation to, say, May 2026. SYR would happily accept and TSLA could continue to buy cheaply elsewhere as long as they please.
Unless a TSLA competitor came up to fill the void. I hope they have good negotiators at SYR.
