I think this announcement was released because the original announcement of results released last week provided no indication as to how reliable the “compelling” results were.
For example, if only 1 or 2 mice were used in each group, you wouldn’t consider the results of the study to be very reliable. And although the text and graphs in the original announcement suggested that NNZ-2591 was effective in this model of Phelan McDermid syndrome, no indication was given as to whether the results could be considered statistically significant.
Hence, the information given today on the numbers of mice used in the experiment as well as the comments on statistical significance.
