Not sure of the first reference in the biography announcements.
That paper summarises pre clinical diagnosis of MND and false positives or mimics of other disease. I can't see a relationship with a MND diagnosis ongoing.
But in saying that Davies et al state this " independently accurate diagnostic biomarker for ALS seems most likely to be related to the TDP-43 proteinopathy that characterizes nearly all cases of ALS".
As per my recent post quoting

The TDP-43 protein holds the ultimate key to this condition and MPL reduces the same.
