The fact that they are now working on the analysis report instead of waiting until the end of the trial to do it, as normally scheduled, should tell you a lot about the motivation of the Principal Investigator, Professor Susan Mathers of Monash University, when it was announced so early back in the 2nd of March ASX announcement. I don't think she is motivated by a desire to waste money or she had been on an all-night bender and thought, "hey, let's have an expensive unscheduled interim analysis coz it''ll be fun!!!" as a few whingers here seem to be implying. And no, I don't think PharmAust bribed her.
Anyway, such analytic reports, which will be presented to the medication authorities as part of the evidence, are not written up in a a few days or even a couple of weeks. Be glad we're not having to wait until the end of the clinical trial for this! I'm so fed up with the whingers here whining like overheated pressure cookers - here we are on what may be a historic moment for medicine and all they can do is whine and moan like teenagers who "know everything", failing to understand the privileged situation they're in.
As for the oppies, well, if they go to zero in the meantime, I'll support those who ask that they be replaced with "loyalty oppies", obviously only in replacement of the ones that were originally sold by PharmAust to them and not any they bought since then. kpax and others have already mentioned this possibility.
I'm enormously confident about the results of this trial when I look at what has been announced, starting with the one on the 2nd of March of the approval of this
unscheduled interim analysis. When I read that, I knew something good was up as the PI has spent her career as treating and researching this disease, so she knows full well what its progression looks like. The original aim of this medication with monepantel was to
slow the progression of this fast moving disease. Anything above that would be a wonderful bonus for all!
