Demand is also increasing. The bulls' case is that the low prices will last long enough to retard investment in new production, while demand continues to grow, and eventually the balance tips with demand exceeding supply and there being a period where supply increase can not keep up and prices skyrocket. It's similar to what we were seeing a couple of years ago, and it's a pretty common concept in supply-demand dynamics - prices don't just go up or down based on supply or demand going up or down, the relevant thing is the ratio between the two. I don't think anyone doubts that both supply and demand for lithium will be increasing for some years ahead.

Whether or not it actually plays out isn't entirely certain, I think it will but not to the same extent that the extremely optimistic bulls here predict. If it does, all agree it will be at least a year or two and most expect 2-3+ years before we see it (to me this makes it irrelevant for buying today, but strategies vary).

I totally disagree with you on the AGY-specific production issue. If AGY can significantly increase production rate, the share price will rally. Even if it's not especially lucrative at current prices, the people who expect future lithium prices to skyrocket will want to take a position in AGY to take advantage of the future situation. Heck, some are even buying now based on speculation of that and speculation on the ability to get into production by the next supercycle. AGY has missed the boat for getting the 10,000TPA plant into production by the next price cycle spike (especially if you listen to the bulls who say it's coming in 1-2 years - the 10,000TPA obviously isn't going to be producing that soon). But, I have no doubt that if AGY released an update today saying production was rapidly increasing, the share price would jump very nicely, and I'd be buying in enthusiastically. I expect we'll get a production update by Monday.
