Sorry to be a Cassandra at the party on this one, but I made my thoughts quite clear at the time, regarding the sale of almost one fifth of the company by Appian to Shenge. Then on 31st August, I forecast what now appears to be happening, with Shenge digging deeper into Peak. It is becoming obvious that Teeside is now going to be a dead duck, which as a Pom, I regard as a great shame (HC I don't regard Pom as pejorative - I had Australian grandparents, and lived in Australia for a couple of very happy years).

I had hoped that with Pensana building a rare earth refinery in the UK, and that with Peak aiming to join them, the country could become an important western based hub for rare earth processing, so reducing the circa 80% hold on rare earth refining by China. I take the points about capex, but we getting a new chancellor of the exchequer in a day or two, and if it is the proposed favourite Kwasi Karteng, then he is very pro the rare earth industry.

I hope I am proved wrong on all this, but I fear I may be proved right!
