You didn't "give" $15,000 on a "gamble". You were made an offer, at a given price, with the possibility of a cut-back. You accepted the offer. So did the vast majority of shareholders as the gain was a given, with almost a zero risk of losing a cent.
If you didn't want to accept the offer, you simply didn't have to send your $15,000 in which meant you accepted the terms and conditions of the offer.
Too bad it was successful for those who received an allotment at $23, including yourself. Thems the breaks for an offer of risk-free money.....lol.
