Greenies may believe (and some of them do) that all mining should be shut down. But renewable energy advocates as well as entrepreneurs understand that mining actually needs to expand to support the new tech. CHN, A4N, ARU, AVL, CXO, RNU are all examples of companies who will benefit from the advancement in energy technology. They are only the tip of the iceberg for the new mining revolution. The move away from dependence on China will bring even more opportunities to Australia. You're dreaming if you think Labour will turn their backs on this (and this is coming from a Liberal voter!). If it means that a handful of coal miners shut up shop, I've got no issue with that. The opportunity for AGL is to transition to new tech before they are squeezed out of the market due to their old tech. The future is looking bright.
The current price is a direct reflection of the reaction to cancelling the demerger. It has barely moved because most, like myself are not scared of what the future may bring to AGL. It won't be worse than recent history.
