Looking at how consumer staples and discretionary stocks are being sold off disproportionately today, this was mostly reported to be due to supply disruption's inflation impact on physical goods businesses. This suggests also that investors are pricing a US recession in.
Oil price dropped yesterday as a result, and thus oil companies were sold off.
However, to WPL's share price, it could be activist investors selling their shares after they got their ticket into the AGM and voting. Possibly, it reflects political risk with respect to the Scarborough and Browse projects that have detractors from environmental and aboriginal activists which were allowed into the AGM on the behest of shareholders as proxy attendants.
