China have wreaked havoc with another company I have invested in too. There are many factors including their govt still generally seeking a zero covid policy. What it means is they are doing all they can to make this work and a F2F meeting to resolve technical challenges and language differences can't happen due to restrictions.
I would not be reading too much more into it. With the right ongoing effort, they will work through it.

Innovation is hard enough, doing it with a team online takes that complexity up, add in cultural and language differences is more to consider and then a few hours timezone difference. All these things are manageable, and i think they have got it but are just letting us know to keep calm. I like the honesty.
