The photos are propaganda you went to check yourself for cognitive bias as do I. When I was working in mining they would select photos of employees to give a message not to be representative. It didn't matter where the employee was temporary or there for 5 minutes and useless as (which jibes with 'the look'). It mattered that they were photogenic and politically correct so women and dark skin got preference.
The mining industry does have to portray an image to deal with perception given the proclivities of the press who have their own agenda.
