In a nutshell - a preferred partner. The company wants to be a company that others come to when they want to farm out.
A non-operator only pays for drilling, development and operating costs; they are essentially a passive investor. A non-operator of choice would be a company who is well funded and seen as a reliable partner. Essentially the relationship the company has with BYE.
