plough,
EDE's pyrolysis process uses NG + catalyst to produce CNT + Hydrogen as a byproduct.
# Its reactor in Colorado is capable of producing 40 tons CNT/annum.....The H2 byproduct is worthless at this stage from such a small facility.
# Capital cost to build 1,000 tons CNT/Year is $50m ....Again the H2 byproduct may not be usable.
# The ultimate aim is to build mammoth reactors capable of producing 10,000 tons CNT/annum.
The ideal place will be near gas fired power stations where NG supply is present.... The reactor use 20,000 tons NG to produce 10,000 tons CNT/annum (a small fraction of the station's use ,which is upwards of 100,000 tons).......H2 byproduct could be fed into the station for energy production.....No CO2 production from this fraction of NG used for the CNT reactor ( 36,000 tons CO2 "carbon credit"/annum)
Such a reactor may cost up to $500m to build.....This could be partially funded by gas fired stations if the carbon credit & the Hydrogen by product are economically compelling .
Big vision....Will not be implemented in a short time frame.
